Who is this vacation for anyway?
As many first time parents before us, JP and I fretted and worried about how Jenna would react when we left her with Nana B for a week while we took a Mommy & Daddy vacation. We also worried about how we would react to being away from her, too.
We've been in the mountains for a day and a half, and are having a great time. We talk about Jenna a lot, about how fun it would be to do this or go here with her, but we are enjoying our time away together, and realize its significant value for us. Yet we still miss her bunches.
Jenna, on the other hand, is clueless! We talk to her on the phone several times a day and she jabbers away. Turns out that Pop-Pop B has discovered and regularly utilizes the use of sugar as a bartering tool to get Jenna's attention. She also gets to do a lot of things she can't do at home - like watch cartoons and scary ghost hunters shows (again with Pop-Pop B!). She's going for rides on her trike, going down to the dock at the waterway and is planning a trip to the beach. All of which leaves is to wonder...who, exactly, is on vacation here? All this worrying and fretting, and it turns out, the joke may very well be on us! :)
