Independence, a new potty & big butt diapers!
Good evening all!
We are coming off of a mellow weekend this past weekend. Jenna is continuing to grow like a weed - and is getting more and more verbal (except when I start rolling the camera...then it's the blank look!). This week she has even started answering our questions, most emphatically when the answer is no, which is marked by a shaking of the head and a firm "No." Sometimes she repeats it a few time for good measure. And of course we try not to laugh, so as not to reinforce, but it's so cute! For now, anyway.
Jenna is also getting more and more independent. She eats using adult utensils - a fork and spoon. We have found that the toddler versions usually have a guard on them which makes it nearly impossible for her to get anything on her fork. She does good with it so far, so we'll keep our fingers crossed. She is doing a form of hybrid eating where she sometimes uses the utensils and sometimes uses her hands. Both versions can be messy...
And from last Saturday to today we made a little progress...
Jenna has been obsessed with flushing our potty for us, and has gotten to where she tells us when she has a dirty diaper (most of the time). Yesterday I was cooking and she came in with a diaper, wipes and a change of clothes and laid down on the kitchen floor. Just a little hint there. So two days ago, we picked up a potty for her...

She's still just checking it out, but it's a start!
Which brings me to my final thought of the day...the need for big butt diapers. I can't take credit for the idea, seeing as Susan and Donald were complaining the other night that her diapers fit great, save for the fact that it seems to be impossible to fit both butt cheeks in all at one time. Yeah...she comes by that one honest. I'd consider going up a size, but she's still 8 pounds away from the next size up. Guess we're just going to have to deal with partial cheekage for now! It's this same problem that forced us to buy her a 3T bathing suit the other day. Yes, that is right...we had to buy a 3T bathing suit for our 17 month old because her booty won't fit into either one of the 2T ones we already have. She may have the Cole name, but she has the Surles bootay!
Good night all!
