The 1 year well appointment

Jenna had her 1 year well visit with Dr. Mills yesterday morning.  Since we tend to make a once monthly sick visit, it was really nice to go in for a well visit for a change!

Jenna is officially starting to level out.  She is no longer off the charts!  Here are her stats:
Weight - 23 pounds - 79th percentile
Length - 30.5 inches - 89th percentile
Head Circumference: 45 cm - 49th percentile

In seeing this, JP said, does this mean she has a tiny head??  Which made me laugh.  I had to explain that 49th percentile is perfectly average. :)

In addition to determining her measurements, we also had 4 vaccinations yesterday.  Given that they are not able to combine them, and we ended up having a shot in each leg and each arm, this round did not go as smoothly as they have in the past.  I was proud of her, though, because she is a tough little thing.  It was obvious that it hurt really bad, but with a little comforting and playing before we got dressed (infants are down to the their diapers for appointments), she was calmed down by the time we left - and ready to play by the time we went the 2 miles to the daycare.

One thing I love about Dr. Mills is that she is supportive of our homeopathic allergy remedies, desire to use no medications, and even stayed mum when I talked about not wanting to have Jenna on fluoride toothpaste.  The biggest surprise for other people is that she is supportive of our way of eating.  She has no arguments with the fact that we are transitioning Jenna to almond milk and that we are keeping her to only fruits, vegetables and meats, save for the one serving of organic yogurt per day.  She was even able to outline for me what I need to look for in a children's vitamin that will serve her needs as a child on limited dairy products.

All and all, we have a thriving and healthy baby girl.  She's sweet and sassy, and I know we will really have our hands full in the coming months.  In the meantime, this is a fun age and watching her develop is an amazing thing to witness.
