6 months old!

Jenna was 6 months old on 6/17.  I just can't believe it!  And she is growing so fast we just can't keep up!

Wanting desperately to crawl!

Sitting up on her own, as well as being able to bring herself back into a sitting position.  I was also able to capture her doing a face plant (which was pretty funny, I have to say...does that make me a mean mommy?) and her displaying her skill of crying after it's obvious she's ok (she likes to do this when she falls over, too).



At her 6 month appointment she weighed in at 20 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 27 1/4 inches long.  Her weight is still >97th percentile and her length is 94th percentile.  I had to laugh when the doctor said, "See, she is staring to slow down." I also discovered during the appointment that she has two teeth that have come in on the front bottom (that were not there two days before, when I last checked).  It all happens so fast!

The thing about this age is that you can't blink or you will miss something!  Since just last month she has started picking up things she wants, switching items from one hand to another, putting her paci in her mouth correctly, using a sippy cup, eating puff snacks, sitting up from a lying position, and crawling forward.  Just this morning she grabbed JP's arm and brought herself into a standing position.  She can tell which direction to turn toys and can problem solve on how to get items out of her reach, how to get things in a direction where they will fit in her mouth (her way of relating to the world at the moment...), she jabbers like crazy (with Daddy, NaNa, and Nana B especially) and is starting to make vowel sounds, mimic sounds that others make and say things like "bababababa" and "dadadadada" (but not "Dada", as someone in this house would like to believe...lol).   AND she already has a BFF and a boyfriend at daycare.  I am told by her teacher that wherever Jenna is, Cooper is, and vice versa, and her and Juliette look out for each other and share toys.  It's super cute!

Speaking of daycare....she loves it!  She and her teacher, Shon, are super close and bonded with one another, which makes us feel good!  Overall, all is well!

Hello to all!

Hello to all of you, our friends and family! We are very excited about this new journey in our lives, and have created this blog as a way to share our ongoing news about Baby Cole with each of you! As you may already know, JP and I are expecting our first child, due on February 24, 2011. This was a surprise, but is very much a blessing! As of now, I am midway through my 12th week of pregnancy, and we were happy to get started in the second trimester. Since we are in the second trimester, I will take a moment to catch everyone up on what we've missed so far... Our first appointment was for the 8 week check up (which was an excruciating wait, given that we had found out we were pregnant over 4 weeks before!).  That was on 7/20, and we were able to hear the heartbeat (at a healthy 169 bpm) and see the heartbeat "flicker" - which was an amazing and awe-inspiring experience for us.  Here is the first ultrasound: I know, I know! On becoming...

We are, in each moment, as we are meant to be. Happiness. Joy. Trials. Tribulation. They are the experiences of life that forge who we are, shape our gifts. We are the ones who choose whether they chip away the best or the worst of us. In January 2016 I attended a Daring Way weekend with a group of amazing ladies. We reflected on the parts of us that need to be buried, put to rest. We reflected on those things that need to be brought up, refined in the light. We considered the duality of these, how they are necessary opposites for our growth and development, and how, in the end, they cannot exist in the same time and space.  As we wrapped up the weekend, we meditated on these to this song:  I am Light - India Arie I felt lighter walking out of that space.
