Updates and ramblings...

Life marches on and being pregnant does nothing to slow down the insanely busy schedule we always find ourselves in this time of year.  However, we have had the opportunity to slow down and enjoy life as we grind along.

A few weekends ago we headed to the beach to see Nana B and Pop Pop.  It was a short weekend, but we managed to pack in an evening at the beach, a day at the playground and another evening at the pool.  Jenna was worn out.  The only part of it we were able to document was Jenna's "Crack is Whack" moment digging in the sand on the beach (one of her favorite things to do).  No matter how many times we pulled her pants up they kept creeping back down...no shame with this one!

Jenna continues to alternate between being a bit of a tomboy (better not put a bow in that girls hair) and wanting to be a princess.  However, like me, her jewels last about 5 minutes (I start out the day with a necklace, bracelet, extra rings, etc, and by the day I'm left with a wedding band and earrings because everything else gets on my nerves)...

Because we border right up to the woods, we get a good bit of interesting insects, reptiles, and animals (mostly the first two).  We have had some really ambitious spiders this year, which has provided many opportunities for Jenna to marvel at the size of some of the webs (and some of the spiders).  We have also have had a lot of Grand-daddy long legs around, which is fun, but the thing that really caught her curiosity the other day was a baby snake on the sidewalk in front of our house.

Little guy was injured and had an open wound which was stuck to the concrete, leaving him open to attack from the ants.  With my help, Jenna was able to free him from the concrete and watch him disappear into the grass.  It was interesting to see her concern for him when she realized the ants were getting him.

I recently got this text from my Dad when they were keeping Jenna...

Turns out that Jenna picked 8 out of 10 correct, so I got a call from Mimi this past week asking Jenna for her picks.  Jenna, who can't stay focused for 5 seconds on a normal phone call, went through all of the choices and picked the teams.  She has some ambitious picks (she picked Boston College over Clemson (didn't happen), but she did pick Penn State over Michigan, which I laughed out loud at, and sure enough, Penn State just beat them in overtime.  I can't remember who else she picked off of the top of my head, save for the Gamecocks, who put Arkansas to rest today.  The whole concept cracks me up.

Last weekend, my cousin Jessi and her daughter, Morgan, came to visit us from Texas.  When we were little, Jessi and I talked on the phone a lot, mailed cards, and had a general orientation to one another, but we didn't actually meet face to face until we were adults.  We have talked about the fact that this is not what we want for the girls, so having Jessi and Morgan was a sweet treat for us.  The girls had a blast and they got along great, which made it even better!

Finally, this past week was Nana B's birthday.  I told Jenna on Monday that it would be on Thursday and she was so funny.  After she said the obvious - which was that we get cupcakes! - she said, "Well, on Friday we have to go to the beach so we can make Nana a birthday!"  Such a  sweetie.  We were not able to be there for Nana's birthday, but it did make for a great excuse to get ice cream. :)

As for Mommy and Julia- all is well here.  The doctor asked me last week, "So, do you think this is going to be a big baby?"  I had to laugh.  If Jenna is any indication, I make big babies!  She said she definitely thinks we are looking at another big one, so I'll have an ultrasound this week to see how big Julia is so far. :)  Either way, 9.5 weeks to go.  Time is starting to move fast and we are excited to meet the little one.
