Warm weather means...

Beach trips.  And the lake.  And all kinds of outdoors goodness!

We have stayed so busy, and keeping up with this blog is something I really intend to do, but rarely actually do.  Such is the consequence of a full life! :)

Jenna is growing like a weed.  She is slowly outgrowing her 3T clothes and is in some 4Ts.  With pants the primary issue is her height.  Even 3Ts are more like capris than full leggings or pants.  We always talk about, "If only we could find that one invention..." and I personally think it will a big butt line of baby and toddler items, including big butt diapers & pull ups, big butt underwear and big butt bathing suits.  Poor Jenna is back and forth between a 4T and size 5 bathing suit and is wearing size 4T-5T Pull-Ups - all because her booty won't fit in the right size!  She get it from her Mama! :)

Here are some highlights....

Jenna loves for Minnie to play with her on the swings and slide...

Jenna checking out our haul from BrownBoxVeggies.com and the farmer's market...

Jenna was very sick last week.  TLC and the chiropractor brought her through...

Jenna loves the beach at Nana B's house

She may be soaking wet but the sand is off of her feet!

Jenna is laid back on the back of the golf cart

She had fun at the pool, too...

Tuckered out on the trip home...

Hello to all!

Hello to all of you, our friends and family! We are very excited about this new journey in our lives, and have created this blog as a way to share our ongoing news about Baby Cole with each of you! As you may already know, JP and I are expecting our first child, due on February 24, 2011. This was a surprise, but is very much a blessing! As of now, I am midway through my 12th week of pregnancy, and we were happy to get started in the second trimester. Since we are in the second trimester, I will take a moment to catch everyone up on what we've missed so far... Our first appointment was for the 8 week check up (which was an excruciating wait, given that we had found out we were pregnant over 4 weeks before!).  That was on 7/20, and we were able to hear the heartbeat (at a healthy 169 bpm) and see the heartbeat "flicker" - which was an amazing and awe-inspiring experience for us.  Here is the first ultrasound: I know, I know! A little peanut, a blob, a parasite (l...

The Word That Can Change Everything

" Yes matters to me on a deep level - saying a broad and brave yes to this beautiful world, to love and challenge, and hard laughing and dancing and trying and failing. Yes is totally my jam. But you can't have yes without no . Another way to say it: if you're not careful with your yeses , you start to say no to some very important things without even realizing it. In my rampant yes-yes-yes-ing , I said no , without intending to, to rest, to peace, to groundedness, to listening, to deep and slow connection, built over years instead of moments.  All my yeses brought me to a shallow way of living - an exhausting, frantic lifestyle that actually ended up having little resemblance to that deep, brave yes I was searching for. And so if you, like me, have said too many yeses , and found that all that hopeful, exciting, wide-open intention has actually left you scraped raw and empty, the word that can change everything is no ." -Shauna Niequist, Present Over ...

How long do you want to be loved? Is forever enough?

After reviewing what I have written all in one, I apologize ahead of time for the length, and the fact that it may seem like I jump from one thing to another. Think of it as a representation of my thought process, a free association blog post, if you will. Thanks in advance for reading. This post truly is a pouring out of my heart... I pulled out an old India.Arie CD recently and started listening to it.  There are just some artists that perform straight to my soul and she is certainly one of them. One of the things I love about her is her desire to lift her partner up in celebration, building him up and making it clear that he is the man of her world.  This is something I strive to do for JP and something at which I can certainly do better.  As a result, I love examples of women like her who are strong, powerful women who display that you can live in service to your husband without losing your strength as a woman.  In fact, the process of submitting in servic...
